BloodyEverAfterTheUglyDeadFairyTalesFromHellShiftyStories

First, we fed your blood thirst with “Bloody Ever After.” Then, we showed you the ugly side of death with “The Ugly Dead.” Then, we brought you to hell and back with “Fairy Tales from Hell.” And finally, we changed your perspective on happily ever after with “Shifty Stories to Read in the Dark.”

Now, it’s time to give you what you’ve waited all month for: the finalists for this year’s chilling, thrilling season of Project REUTSway. In alphabetical order. Without revealing the names of the stories that have been chosen.

What this means for you, if your name is on this list, is that you’re STILL in the running to win it all. You just have to wait until January 31st to find out if you’re a multiple story winner, a single story winner, or a runner up whose story will be featured in full as part of our Grimm and Chilling Tales blog series (Coming to the REUTS blog in February, 2014)!

Are you ready? Here we go:

The outpouring of talent and enthusiasm we experienced was both exciting and humbling, and we’d be lying if we didn’t admit that choosing only a few finalists was probably the most difficult thing we’ve had to do all year.

Thank you for sharing your time, your energy, and your gloriously twisted imaginations. We wish you all the happiest endings imaginable.

Sincerely,

*fans self* I am SO surprised and SO thrilled to be a finalist! Thank you so much for giving everyone such a wonderful opportunity and such a fun writing experience. Forever grateful for that and for the amount of time everyone at REUTS has already invested in this project. The amount of reading/judging you had to do boggles my mind. xx

I’m so honored to be a finalist. When I saw this, I literally started screaming, simultaneously freaking out my little brother. I had kind of given up on my story ending up anywhere near the final pool of entries…but this totally, absolutely made my day. THERE IS STILL HOPE. Ah! Thank you guys for taking the time to read that massive load of entries and being so passionate about this whole thing (and making us passionate about it, too!). I’m so completely, wonderfully excited!

Congratulations, Madeleine! I, for one, loved “Charlie’s Girl”. It was the only retelling of The Princess and the Pea we received and I felt the emotion/voice were really well done. It was one that I still remembered weeks after reading it. So please don’t doubt your skill. You’re an excellent writer, and your place in the finalists is very much deserved. 😉

I was so shocked when I saw my name on the list, very pleasantly surprised. And I thought seeing my name on Top Looks was a shock! 😛 I didn’t think I’d get this far. Thank you so much, for making me a finalist and for this amazing opportunity – you literally brought together my two favorite things in the world for this project.

Congratulations everyone els who made the list! 😀

I couldn’t believe when I saw the list that my name was there! It made my day. I so wanted to squeal, but my brother had just come home from work (night shift). So I had to internally explode with excitement, which is not as much fun as giving everyone a heart attack and setting off the dogs (muhahahaha!)

So I just want to say thank you for making me a finalist. I am so squealing fangirl ecstatic that I don’t know what to do with myself. =D
    I can’t wait for the 31st!

Thrilled to be in such talented company, especially alongside my inky pal, Mandy! This was an intriguing contest–I enjoyed writing every word of these twisty tales. Congrats on the project’s smashing success! Looking forward to reading the final collection.

Thanks to everyone involved with reading the truck load of submissions. Writing stories in a few days was challenging and fun. I’m honored to find my name on the list of finalists. No matter what happens we all have some great new stories we probably wouldn’t have written without Project REUTSway. It’s been a blast. Thanks for having me!
